ABOUT

A soft and gentle serif font for body texts. Latin has been modified based on Weiss Antiqua, and Hangul has been sketched to match Latin's mood. Following Weiss Antiqua, it has spiky and spearhead-like serifs and terminals, which give a sharpness and crisp atmosphere. Low contrast and modern structure are suitable for both screen and printed matters. For language support, it covers Hangul and Latin.

Stealing as protection

The word pirate carried a lot of cultural baggage before it had anything to do with copyright or interllectual property. Just as it is today, the ancient Mediterranean was dependent on international trade via cargo ships, and as far back as thirty-two hundred years ago, historical records from a variery of coastal nations recorded assaults by mysterious “Sea peoples” who whould attack port cities and seafarers, raiding goods and killing civilians. In ancient Greece, perpetrators of such deeds became known as peirates (brigands), a word that evolved from the verb peiran (to attack or attempt). By the time this word had further evolved into the Latin pirata, philosophers had developed a complex approach to understanding piracy that extended beyond its immediate impact on ships on shores.

Openness, transparency, publicity

Among topics around TYPE DESIGN, copyright has been a highly debatable topic over disciplines. Before micro-scoping niceties of debate, its necessary to understand digital Copy Paste technology, a digital technology that interrupts to protect copyright. Since Copy Paste technology has invented in 1975, writers, editors, or developers may have copied and pasted long texts to simply assimilate them quickly. But now everyone uses the technology to save programs, images, music, or font files because development in the Copy Paste technology allows people to copy all kinds of metadata. This technology, however, exists for not only copying data but enabling us to customize data. All can crop, modify, smash, or shake up data upon the Copy Paste technology. As the technology can be used in dynamic ways, copyright has been overtaken so easily, and so copyfight has kicked into high gear. Especially, the views of theft needs more careful attention to determine whether copyright is violated or not.
